The short answer
The cost of dental implants depends on how many teeth you’re replacing, whether you need a bone graft or an extraction first, and what goes on top: a single crown, a bridge or a full arch. At Kingston Smiles every implant plan is priced after your exam and 3D scan, and you get an itemized written estimate before treatment starts.
What’s included in the cost of a dental implant?
- Planning: the exam and a 3D CBCT scan to measure the bone and plan the implant’s position, with a 3D-printed surgical guide.
- The implant: the titanium post placed in the jawbone.
- The abutment: the connector that holds the new tooth.
- The crown, bridge or denture on top, made by a dental lab.
- Anything needed first, such as removing a tooth or a bone graft.
Our dental implants page explains each stage of treatment.
How does the number of implants change the cost?
| What you’re replacing | Usual approach |
|---|---|
| One tooth | One implant and one crown |
| Several teeth in a row | Two implants supporting a bridge, rather than one implant per tooth |
| A whole arch | Four or more implants holding a full set of teeth, fixed or removable |
Using fewer implants to hold more teeth is how full-arch treatment keeps the cost down. Whether four implants are enough depends on your bone, which the 3D scan shows. Read what full mouth dental implants cost for the whole-arch options.
Are low-price implant offers the full price?
Often not. A low advertised price may cover the implant post only. Before you book anywhere, ask whether the price includes:
- the 3D scan and planning
- the abutment and the crown
- any extraction or bone graft
- follow-up visits
- what happens if the implant doesn’t heal
The cheapest quote can end up costing more if parts are added later or the implant has to be redone.
Does dental insurance cover implants?
Some plans cover part of implant treatment, often the crown on top, while others exclude implants. Whatever the plan pays counts toward your yearly maximum, so larger treatment is sometimes planned across two benefit years. Original Medicare doesn’t cover dental implants. We work with CSEA and Kingston Trust Fund plans and most PPO plans, and check your benefits before you commit. Read what dental insurance usually covers.
How can you spread or lower the cost?
- Payment plans: CareCredit and Cherry let you pay over time.
- Stage the treatment: the implant and the crown are placed months apart, so the cost is spread naturally.
- Compare options honestly: a bridge or denture costs less up front. Dr. Ibrahim Sayeed explains the long-term trade-offs.

Dental implant cost questions
Why do dental implants cost more than a bridge?
An implant involves surgery, planning and lab work. It also replaces the root, so neighboring teeth don’t need to be filed down.
Do I pay for an implant all at once?
No. Treatment happens in stages over several months, and you pay for each stage as it’s done.
Do you see patients whose implant was placed elsewhere?
Yes. Dr. Sayeed can check an implant that’s loose or sore and explain the options.
